About the Jazz & Rib Festival
The Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest is a free event that does not require tickets to see the performers. Take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy a weekend of vibrant music and fantastic food along the Scioto Riverfront.

Though the festival now enjoys the status of being Columbus’ largest free outdoor music festival, it got its footing in the late 1970s as a smaller series of art and music exhibitions sprinkled throughout various Columbus parks and facilities. At the time, it was a jazz-focused festival that functioned independently of the local Rib Festival held at the same time of year, and it wasn’t until 1990 that the two would combine to create the festival we have today.
The festivities have grown to include 20 top-tier barbecue vendors and 30 bands performing across four different stages this year. Over 200,000 attendees will gather to appreciate music genres like smooth jazz, soulful gospel, and Latin-inspired funk.
Some of this year’s headliners include:
- Legendary R&B and gospel artist Mavis Staples
- Contemporary saxophonist Boney James
- Critically acclaimed jazz and soul singer Lizz Wright
- Grammy-nominated R&B singer Kenny Lattimore
